Monday
We were going up to the school to go on a walk. I strapped her in her seat and leaned over to ask if she was ready. This is what I saw. A relaxed little girl with one arm behind her head just hanging out.
Sunday
At church these two babies were sporting their neon colors. Their dads were sporting what's been dubbed "The Dad Plaid". Kate is almost 6 months. Baby Jo-Jo is almost 4 months- I think.
Saturday
Saturday was an "interesting" day. We were without power for most of the day, which really amps the stress levels up in the house. It's hot, pumping is a challenge, and it's dark in some of the rooms. Josh worked on our generator and was able to get power to the house. He also hooked up a sprayer in the bathroom which will help with washing out cloth diapers. He's my hero!
Kate and I prepared for a party that afternoon. She took naps and played until it was time to go to the party. I'm going to write about this on the other blog but here's a shot of Kate- the Party Animal.

Friday
Friday morning we went to a "Mum's Group". This is a group of moms that meet together for a playgroup for their kids and an opportunity for some heart connecting with other adults. Kate played on the floor and hung out in some different laps until she reached the "grouchy" stage. At this stage I put her in her carseat with the intention of leaving, but she fell asleep shortly after this! So, I stayed a little later. :)
Thursday
A friend recommended a CD called "Sing Over Me". It's a compilation of various Christian artists singing worship songs and lullabies. I played it on repeat and within the first three songs Kate was sleeping... ok, I'll be honest, we BOTH were sleeping! She slept hard for a couple hours. She fell into a mouth open, drool leaking out of the side of her mouth, small snorts every once in a while, and sweet little squeaks coming out of her mouth kind of sleep. I couldn't catch the zzz's on video, but here's an open mouth shot.
Wednesday
Ignore the pj bottoms that are a bit too big. She's such a great sleeper! She sleeps through huge rain storms that fall on our roof. She sleeps through power outages where everything gets strangely quiet. She's learning to sleep through the Call to Prayer at 4 AM. She still doesn't nap in her bed during the day. She naps in the butterfly chair. I have no idea what we're going to do when she's too big for that chair!
Tuesday
Today Kate took a trip to the library to check out some books for the first time. I brought her down to look at books, but she didn't last there very long! Kate makes a friend wherever she goes. The next time I saw her she was lying on her tummy on the countertop with the librarians right there with her. She enjoys looking at the books that we checked out from the library.

Monday- A Day of Firsts
Today was a big day for Momma and Kate. Today we tried cloth diapers for the first time. It honestly wasn't too bad. They make her bum look super cute. If we're going to be around the house during the day I think they are perfect.
We also went to the swimming pool for the first time today too. She didn't scream in the water. She didn't laugh in the water. She just watched everyone in the pool from the protection of her swim float. I didn't get any pictures of her in the pool or in her swim gear, because I was in the pool with her. She did get tired, so we took a break for a snack and a nap- well Kate snacked and napped.
The two of her sleeping makes my heart melt. Such a sweet girl.

Sunday- Easter Day
Sunday morning we headed to church. Kate was SO cute in a pink polka-dot dress. I told Josh we need to be sure to take a photo of the three of us on our first Easter together. Well towards the end of the church service Josh noticed that his leg felt warm and wet. He looked down to see that some how Kate's diaper had leaked all over him! So we changed the diaper right there on the ground in the back of the room. I thought maybe she could still wear the same clothes, but when we lifted up her dress it was clear that she needed to be changed. It was wet around the top trim of the diaper. Honestly, it looked like Kate just moved her diaper over and relieved herself straight on her daddy's leg. Some how through the hum of the day, we didn't get our family shot. We did get some sweet Easter smiles from Kate.
Here's a shot of the Easter nap.

Saturday
Saturday we stayed close to home while Josh worked on some things around the house. We are a few steps closer to having Kate's room set up. We just need to put the decorations on the walls. Here's her room so far.
Saturday evening we had dinner with some friends. They made a cute bread bunny.

Friday
Wednesday
Kate sits at the dinner table with us. She is really watching us while we eat. Through the day she'll mimic chewing. She starts to grab her bottle when she's hungry and can even hold it up on her own.

Tuesday
Monday night we said farewell to some sweet friends. They will return to America to prepare for the birth of their second baby and will stay there seeking what is next for them.
Tuesday we ran a few errands around town. Kate came home and crashed. I got a shot of some sweet snuggles that happened right when she woke up. She then took a few "selfies" on my phone.

Monday
Sorry for no photo from Sunday, it was a busy busy day! We were able to introduce Kate and tell her story to our colleagues at a Sunday night meeting. We think she wanted to tell her own story because she kept trying to grab the mic and say a few words. :)
This morning (Monday) Kate and I took a stroll around our neighborhood. She met some new neighbors and I had a chance to catch up with them. It was a short walk, but Kate fell asleep and is now working on a nap as I write this.

Saturday
I have started to explore the room. I can only move backwards, so I often find myself stuck in unfamiliar places. Today I got stuck under the couch. My butterfly chair is also a place I enjoy getting stuck under.
Friday
Today we remembered a colleague who passed away in a plane accident on Wednesday morning. It was Kate's first funeral- in Indonesia or anywhere. Funerals in Indonesia can last many hours. They give you a box with snacks and water at the beginning. The service started at 9 AM and finished at noon. The body was then carried to the burial site and another service took place there. We left at the end of the funeral service, so we didn't stay for the burial part. Kate did great! She got a little cranky because she was tired. After a nap in momma's arms she was her normal happy self. She got to spend some time with a baby-loving family during the service and play with her two friends.
Thursday
Today I wore a shirt that Aunt Jenni gave me. It fits today, but might not fit tomorrow because I'm growing so fast!
I also LOVE to play with all my giraffes that Uncle Joel, Aunt Elaine, and Esther gave me. I miss them in Indonesia!

Wednesday
Kate likes to move. She tries to move forward but only goes backwards. She is skilled at being any where except the huge mat in the middle of the room with soft blankets to protect her head from the tile floor. :)
Tuesday
Tuesday Kate turned 5 months. It's hard to believe it's already been five months. I found myself thinking... it won't be long before she's a year, and then starting kindergarten, and then... and then...
She was 26.5 inches long- in the 90th percentile for height. She weighs 16 lbs and 14 oz- 80th percentile for weight. Her head was 17 inches around putting her in the 100th percentile for head size- we're not surprised! :)
Later in the afternoon we had a play date with some other friends who have recently returned from the States.
